PRAYER OF A STRAY

Dear God please send me someone who cares,

I'm tired of running and sick with despair.

My body is aching, it's so racked with pain,

Dear God I pray as I run in the rain;

For someone to love me and give me a home,

With a warm cozy bed all of my own.

My last owner neglected me and chased me away,

To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.

But now God I'm tired, hungry and cold,

Afraid I may not have the chance to grow old.

I've been chased with sticks and hit hard with stones,

While I run in the streets just looking for bones.

I'm not really bad God, please help if you can,

For I have become just a victim of man,

I'm wormy Dear God, and I'm ridden with fleas,

All that I want is an owner to please.

If you find one for me God, I'll try to be good,

I won't run away and I'll do as I should.

I don't think I'll make it too long on my own,

I'm getting so weak and I'm all alone.

Each night as I sleep in the bushes I cry,

Dear God I'm afraid that I'm gonna die.

I've got so much love and devotion to give,

That I should be given a new chance to live.

Dear God please, please, answer my prayer,

Send me somebody who really does care.

Not Enough Homes

Considering the current situation, TARA does NOT support any form of breeding. Shelters are overflowing with pets in need.... There is NO excuse to add more to an already over-saturated market.

Please help Us Help Them

The Animal Rescue Alliance is a 501C3 non profit organization entirely operated by volunteers. We receive no government funding and rely solely on the generosity of individual donors to support our efforts.

Many of the pets we rescue come from difficult situations and have medical issues that need to be addressed. We encounter many cases of Heartworm diseases, skin problems, allergies, parasites, etc. We believe those minor conditions are no reason to euthanize friendly and deserving animals and therefore spare no efforts to treat and rehabilitate them.

Please donate generously so we can continue helping pets in need and making sure they find wonderful homes.

Donations can be sent to

September 2007

Poor little Darcy was recently found in Swope Park eating an old corn cob.  She most likely had many litters and is in pretty bad shape right now. Super skinny, Heartworm positive, fly bites, sores all over, infested with parasites, and what appears to be possible bite marks on her neck and legs from other dogs attacking her. Yet, little Darcy is about as sweet as a dog can be.

This poor dog is so pathetic right now but so grateful at the same time for all the help she is now receiving and full of hope for a better life.

None of Darcy's conditions are life threatening if treated in time. We need to raise about $400.00 for a her care and she will quickly transform into a healthy and beautiful princess.

Please help us help this very deserving dogs. Sadly, once back in shape, Darcy's ordeal wont be over. She will then have to face the fact that she is a black dog, and black dogs are always the last ones to be adopted. The great majority of them get euthanized in shelters without ever being noticed by anyone. We did not mention all this to Darcy yet. We will treat her wounds and heal her heart first and then we'll face the challenge of finding her the loving home she dreamed of all her life. Darcy is safe with TARA. Our guardian angel, Tara, had a special place in her heart for black dogs and we know she is looking out for Darcy.

July-August 2007

This poor little Catahoula mix was confiscated by Animal Control with serious and painful injuries to his back legs. Winston was diagnosed with a double Avulsion Fracture of the Tibial Tuberosity... Only a complicated surgery by an orthopedist doctor could save him or he would have lost "both" legs!

His condition was painful and could not wait until we raised the money for him. A generous veterinarian gave a discount but the cost was still $1400.00. Although the surgery has been done and hopefully Winston will be okay, we are now short $1100 in our account.

Please help us help our little Winston. He is currently fostered by a vet tech who is more than willing to care for him during his convalescence. All we need is a hand financially, so we can give Winston a precious chance to live a normal and happy life...

Heartworm Treatment for Kiani. We don't know how this sweet girl lost her home but we promised we would do everything we can to help her. Kiani was sitting alone by a busy road. She seemed very relieved when one of our volunteers spotted her and decided to stop to help. She's been doing everything she can since then to show her gratitude.

Unfortunately, Kiani tested positive for Heartworm's and we are now trying to raise the money so we can save her life. She is so deserving of this precious help. If you cant foster or adopt, could you please donate so we can heal Kiani's heart and give her the chance to find a loving home. Kiani is currently staying in a boarding facility and our funds are very limited. We need all the help we can get for this precious girl. Please...

Please send donations to address above att: Kiani, or to our PayPal account. Thank you so much :-)

UPDATE: JUNE 2007 - Thank you so much to Chow Rescue in IL for helping find Kiani a precious guardian Angel. Not only a loving family opened their heart to Kiani and gave her the home she deserves, but they also offered to pay her Heartworm treatment. Kiani is now safe and loved in her new home with the Jacobs Family :-)

SUCCESS STORIES

January/February 2007 - Wishes wish to live....

We cant find words to describe the horrendous condition a poor little dog was found by members of our group on new years day. How can anyone let her condition get so bad is completely beyond us... Yet, this sweetheart wagged he tail when we approached her to help. She was so matted that she looked like a cocoon. She could barely lift her head and could not uncurl her paws. We couldn't even tell if she had eyes..... The worse part though, was the terrible injury on her back leg...

"Wishes" was immediately rushed to the emergency vet and transferred to another clinic the next day. Her leg had been badly fractured some time ago and left to heal on its own. The pain was so intense that Wishes was now trying to eat it off. Amputation was the only option to end her suffering.

The pictures below were taken after Wishes was untangled, but before she was shaved, bathed and her leg removed.

WISHES FIRST DAY WARNING! Pictures are gruesome and not for the faint of heart.

We had no funding when Wishes was rescued, but a great desire to help this poor little dog and show her that not all humans are monsters.

Update January 30th - Wishes was adopted by the receptionist of the vet clinic where she was treated. Her new mom takes her to work everyday and Wishes (now Peggy) has become the little mascot. She is doing very well and turned into a real beauty.

Thank you so much to everyone that donated money to help with her case. We could have never saved this deserving little dog without your help :-)
